HAWKSWORTH SALOON No 80943

Hawksworth Saloon No 80943

One of six built at Swindon in 1948 to Lot 1701 Diagram Q13 and used as an inspection coach for the District Engineer and his staff. The interior is built to a high standard and divided into a saloon at each end with tables, chairs and settees. After service in the London and Bristol areas it was sold to a group of DFR society members who formed the Hawksworth Saloon (80943) Group in 1979.  In 2024 the remaining owners, which included the DFLG, decided to sell their interests in the saloon to the DFLG, who following an external repaint took full ownership at the end of April 2025. It is intended that the saloon will be attached to as many scheduled trains as possible but can also be hired by groups.
